Simon Robinson was born in York, England. He graduated from the Trosssingen Hochschule für Musik with a Double First and a Masters Degree from the Berlin University of Arts studying with Prof. Robert Gambill. Simon is a versatile Bass-Baritone who sings a wide range repertoire varying from the early Baroque through the Romantic to Contemporary, both on the Opera stage and the Concert stage. He is in demand throughout Europe working with leading conductors, stage directors and accompanists. He has work with Cconductors such as Marcus Creed, RenéJacobs, Frank Markowitsch, Andrea Marchiol, Christian Curnyn and Mark Padmore. In 2010 he was a Finalist in the first Baroque Opera Competition in Innsbruck. In September 2011 he reached the semi finals of the Wigmore Hall Song Competition where he was short-listed for the Independent Opera Prize. In August 2011 made his debut at the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik as Mercurio in Cavalli´s La Calisto under the conduction of Andrea Marchiol. In April/May 2012 he will be performing the main role in the world Ppremiere of the opera Calif at the Staatstheater in Kiel, directed by Betina Rohrbeck. This summer he will be performing the role of the Second Elder in Handel’s Susanna at the Iford Opera Festival, which will be conducted by Christian Curnyn. On the concert stage, future highlights are Mozart Requiem with the Kammerakadamie Potsdam and Handel’s Messiah in the Potsdam Sansoucci Festival in June. Recent peformances have included Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen with the Berlin Symphonic Orchestra. Saison 2011-12 |
